  8. This version is for MC68020/Kickstart 3.0 and higher. A MC68000/kickstart 2.0
  9. version of an old AmiComSys version, namely 1.20, may be found at http://parting.nu/AmiComSys/

  14. AmiComSys is a program that you use to communicate with other people on
  15. a tcp/ip-net - e.g Internet. At the same time it make it easier to find
  16. people's IP-addresses, for use with Internet games, and home pages.
  17.  
  18. It uses AMarquee.library by Jeremy Friesner & Håkan Parting for most of
  19. it's network handling.
  20.  
  21. Now you can say "Hello!" to your friends on the net, or just see if they are
  22. online.
  23.  
  24. You can:

  27. * send WEB-requests.
  28. * transfer files.
  29. * have a public realtime chat
  30. * have a private realtime chat, with photos.
  31. * advertise your homepage, ftp-site, IRC-server, ICQ id and own-made programs.

  100. NEW: A send message bar was added to the Toolbar menu. In addition to the normal message send
  101. procedure you may now use this bar. Select the one to send a message to, enter the message
  102. in the text field and press enter. Optionally select the type of message. This is the way
  103. it worked in ACS 1.34. The bar may be moved to the upper area by draging it with the mouse.
  104. Registered users can save the bar position.
  105. To enter a multi-line message use the normal procedure, i.e. double-click the client you want
  106. to send a message.
  107. NEW: Send File now increases the transfer buffer when it recognizes that the connection is
  108. fast enough. There by increasing the transfer rate.
  109. NEW: Tab-expansion in hotline and pchat now match all clients online instead of just those
  110. having hotline open.

  112. BUGFIX: From version 2.2 events and sounds were not hit when a buddy went online and the
  113. "Show in list" was set to "All".
  114. BUGFIX: If the "Show in list" menu item was changed to "All" from "Only friends" the contact
  115. list went empty.
  116. BUGFIX: If you changed the string class setting from Textinput to any other while having a pchat
  117. or hotline window open it crashed.
  118. BUGFIX: The current cps in Send File wasn't accurate. When the system was heavy loaded it
  119. was too high.

  123. NEW: The default server name is now amicomsys.2y.net

  126. NEW: New Firewall section in the network/security settings named "Firewall/Internet sharing".
  127. If you are behind a "firewall/Internet sharing" and the one you are connecting to via PChat or
  128. Sendfile also is behind a "firewall/Internet sharing" it would not work.
  129. The solution is to you setup a pair of ports in the firewall which are forwarded via NAT to
  130. the machine which is running AmiComSys. Enter the ports in the settings and it should work
  131. as if you were not behind a firewall. If there are several hosts running AmiComSys behind
  132. a single "firewall/Internet sharing" those would use different ports.
  133. NEW: AmiComSys is now able to connect via PChat and Sendfile to hosts on the same LAN.
  134.      V.2.2+ is required on both ends.
  135. NEW: Removed the group border from the Message History settings page.

  137. BUGFIX: AmiComSys could crash after the Friends book had been modified.
  138. BUGFIX: If you are behind a "firewall/Internet sharing" and someone which is also behind a
  139. firewall was connecting to you via PChat a message about refused connection appeared.
  140. BUGFIX: There was a double set of menus in the Client Info, PChat Image Download and Sendfile
  141. windows.
  142. BUGFIX: There was a screen locking issue with the PChat, PChat Image Download and Sendfile windows,
  143. which could make the public screen it opened on to freeze and also ACS to either freeze or open
  144. windows on the workbench screen.
  145. BUGFIX: After a certain type of message was received and closed AmiComSys would freeze sooner
  146. or later.
  147. BUGFIX: There was a number of instability issues with the Message History window.
  148. BUGFIX: It wasn't possible to delete the last user from the banned list on the network
  149. settings page.
  150. BUGFIX: Enforcer hits occured when:
  151. 1. Right-click in an empty Task List window.
  152. 2. Press "cursor up" or "cursor down" when in PChat or Hotline.
  153. 3. Select "Save As" from the PChat or Hotline menus.
  154. BUGFIX: The following didn't work since version 2.0 of ACS:
  155. 1. Cursor up/down in PChat/Hotline.
  156. 2. Tab expansion in PChat/Hotline.
  157. 3. Away message count appears in Information bar at top of ACS when a message was received
  158.    while away.
  159. BUGFIX: The "Iconify Application" menu item didn't always affect the "Client Info" window.
  160. BUGFIX: The layout of the "GMT Offset" gadget on the program settings page could look strange.
  161. BUGFIX: Changed the "More recipients" button text in the "new message" windows to:
  162. "Show recipients >>" and "<< Hide recipients".
  163. BUGFIX: "Start X-coord" and "Start Y-coord" on the program settings page was mis-spelled.
  164. BUGFIX: When the PChat window pops up from an iconified state (ie. "Popup window when
  165. message arrives") the scrollbar was not at the very bottom to display the newest message.
  166. BUGFIX: If you picked the Close menuitem from the SendFile and the Chat Image Download windows
  167. to abort the transmission AmiComSys locked up.
  168. BUGFIX: If you tried to break the AmiComSys process while it was showing a modal message dialog
  169. it could lock up.
  170. BUGFIX: When the message requesters are set to close after replying a message, it was possible
  171. to press enter in the text field again initiating a new send before it had been closed, causing
  172. it to close twice and deallocating memory twice.
  173. BUGFIX: When using the default public screen setting for Message requesters all windows now
  174. open on the current default screen after they have been deiconified too.
  175. BUGFIX: When having the Message History window opened while switching between several groups and
  176. sending and receiving messages the display hook function of the history list sometimes get an
  177. invalid pointer (0x1) from NList.mcc which caused an Enforcer-hit and lockup. I have no idea why
  178. this happen but I implemented a check on this.
  179. BUGFIX: The reply button (Email/ICQ) in messages sent from the message center was not shown.
  180. BUGFIX: If not "Last ten" was selected in the Message History and the items were wordwraped
  181. then there were trouble to remove the last or the first item to keep it to ten items when a
  182. new message was sent or received. The routine tried to remove items to make it ten but failed,
  183. and there by creating a busy loop, i.e making ACS freeze.
